Tumasov-Asatiani Soso is the founder of "TASknives", which he took from his own name Tumasov-Asatiani Soso (TAS). Starting his knifemaking profession 2016 - from a crude chunk of steel that he shaped into a knife with stitched leather handle. Before realizing it, he was hooked and deep into the process of becoming a full time knifemaker. In 2018 he started showing his builds in knife shows and has been at it since. Family is always at Soso's heart, his amazing wife Neno and 2 kids are the motivation for all his work.
Soso wanted to make knives with unique designs but also fully functional as a versatile cutting tool. "I use high quality steel, titanium, copper, G10, wood and many other mediums to create a very durable, functional and good looking knife. Beveling edges is the most challenging process of knife making but it is my favourite part. Compound grinding is my passion, I can turn a seemingly dull contour into a sharp defined one giving it character just by beveling geometry. One of my more unique processes is doing several layers of etching complete the vision of knife. I experiment a lot! And can create a unique curvature and grinding to make some of my more special models. The etching is also another favourite part, it truly makes each knife I produce an original as no two will be alike. Sarted as self-taught, all my skills and development are carried out through multitude of trial and error. Now as I grow in the knife community I exchange ideas with other makers to continually develop ways of improving in my craft. Every knife I make involves many hours to create my one-of-a-kind style while still making a functional knife."
